H&MV Engineering Wins Outstanding Service Award at Scottish Green Energy Awards

H&MV Engineering is proud to announce that we have been honoured with the Outstanding Service Award at the Scottish Green Energy Awards 2025, recognising our work on the 500MW battery energy storage system at Coalburn – the first of two Coalburn projects.

A Pioneering Achievement

The Coalburn 1 project represents a watershed moment for the UK’s energy infrastructure. At the project’s inception it was Europe’s largest BESS site, the 500MW facility has set a new benchmark for grid-scale energy storage solutions.

This groundbreaking project presented significant technical challenges, requiring innovative engineering solutions and close collaboration with National Grid and other key stakeholders. Our team’s ability to navigate these complexities while maintaining the highest standards of safety and delivery excellence has been instrumental in the project’s success.

Industry Recognition

Lea James, UK Renewables Sales Director at H&MV Engineering, said:

“Winning this award is a tremendous honour and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. The Coalburn 1 project pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in grid-scale energy storage and to see that recognised by the industry is incredibly rewarding.

“This is just the beginning – we’re excited to build on this success and continue delivering innovative solutions that support the UK’s transition to a sustainable energy future.”
