At H&MV Engineering, we are passionate about fostering the next generation of electrical engineers. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming second-year Electrical Engineering students from Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) to our Limerick headquarters for an insightful and engaging coffee morning.

Exploring Power Systems and Grid Connections
The event provided an invaluable opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of the evolving energy landscape. Our expert engineers from the Design and Commissioning departments delivered technical talks on power systems, grid connections, and the future of grid infrastructure. With the energy sector continuously evolving to meet sustainability and efficiency demands, discussions focused on real-world challenges and innovative solutions shaping the industry.
Career Insights from Industry Professionals
Beyond technical knowledge, students also gained first-hand insights into career pathways within the power engineering sector. Our team shared their experiences, highlighting the various roles and opportunities available within H&MV Engineering.
A key part of the session featured current graduates who shared their transition from student placements to full-time graduate positions. They discussed the skills they developed during their placements and how their responsibilities have evolved in their graduate roles. This gave students a clear picture of what to expect as they embark on their own professional journeys..
Building Connections for the Future
The morning was also an excellent networking opportunity, allowing students to engage with our engineers, ask questions, and learn more about the industry in an informal setting. Events like these are crucial in bridging the gap between academia and the professional world, providing students with practical knowledge and career inspiration.
David O’Rourke TUS lecturer shared his thoughts on the event, stating:
“The students were very excited about the demonstration of HV grid technology, active projects and career opportunities possible with H&MV and were delighted to meet and interact with the friendly and experienced team.”
At H&MV Engineering, we are committed to supporting the next generation of engineers through mentorship, education, and hands-on learning experiences. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with TUS and welcoming more students in the future.

Stay tuned for more updates on our engagement with future talent and industry developments!
