For Megan McDonald, project management wasn’t the plan—it was the path she grew into. Starting her career as a Low Voltage Technician, she discovered her strength in solving complex challenges and bringing structure to the chaos. Today, she leads projects across Europe with a focus on collaboration, problem-solving, and mentoring the next generation of professionals. As one of the few women in a male-dominated industry, Megan leads with integrity and encourages others to “take up space—you absolutely belong here.” She values H&MV’s supportive culture and, outside of work, enjoys family time, travel, and exploring new places.

At H&MV Engineering, our team is built on diverse experiences, backgrounds, and aspirations. Each engineer brings a unique journey, shaped by challenges, discoveries, and personal growth. We sat down with some of our engineers to learn more about their stories, their day-to-day work, and what inspires them most about their roles. Here’s what they had to say.

After all ESG is me, you, its all of us!

At H&MV Engineering, we are passionate about fostering the next generation of electrical engineers. We were thrilled to open the gates of our Killonan 220 kV GIS substation project to a group of bright and enthusiastic engineering students from the University of Limerick. As part of H&MV Engineering's ongoing commitment to early career engagement, this site visit was designed to offer students a practical glimpse into the world of high-voltage substation construction, far beyond the classroom whiteboard.

At H&MV Engineering, we are passionate about fostering the next generation of electrical engineers. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming second-year Electrical Engineering students from Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) to our Limerick headquarters for an insightful and engaging coffee morning.
