H&MV Engineering, as Main Contractor for the delivery of the Maynooth 220 / 110kV G.I.S Substation, was pleased to recently welcome colleagues from ESB Networks and H&MV Engineering to site for a focused and highly engaging day centred on safety, collaboration, and delivery excellence.
The visit formed part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening the long-standing partnership between ESB Networks and H&MV Engineering—one that continues to play a critical role in delivering essential energy infrastructure across Ireland. The Maynooth 220 / 110kV G.I.S Substation is a flagship project within this collaboration, underpinned by shared expertise, strong alignment, and a clear focus on safety and quality.
A key theme of the day was safety, with teams engaging in open discussions on project progress and the behaviours and standards required to deliver safely at every stage. As part of this focus, we took an additional step forward by introducing a new worker engagement initiative on the project, recognising the importance of engaging our people on site.
A highlight of the visit was the session delivered by Bernard Brogan of PepTalk, who officially launched the PEPTalk programme on the project. This initiative will support the continuous monitoring and development of team morale throughout the lifecycle of the project, reinforcing our commitment to a safe and supportive working environment.
The day also provided valuable opportunity for knowledge sharing across multiple ESB projects, each at different stages of delivery, encouraging cross-project learning and collaboration.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all who attended and contributed, including our colleagues from ESB Networks and guest contributors. In particular, we recognise John Kelly Networks Projects Delivery Manager at ESB EMP, and David Maher, Managing Director Ireland at H&MV Engineering, for their continued leadership and support of this important project.
As work continues, H&MV Engineering looks forward to building on this strong partnership with ESB Networks and delivering this critical infrastructure safely and successfully.
