H&MV Engineering celebrates ICE Approved Employer status with launch of comprehensive professional development programme supporting engineers towards Chartership
ICE Approved Employer Status Marks New Chapter in Engineering Excellence
H&MV Engineering was delighted to launch its Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Professional Development Training Scheme at the prestigious ICE headquarters, One Great George Street in Westminster, London. This landmark occasion followed the company’s recent recognition as an ICE Approved Employer, a significant achievement that underscores H&MV’s commitment to developing engineering talent and supporting career progression.
The formal launch event saw UK Managing Director Nigel Taylor presented with the ICE approval certificate by Joanna Horton, ICE Chief Membership Officer. Nigel expressed his delight at this accomplishment, highlighting the company’s dedication to developing engineering excellence and warmly welcoming attendees to the beginning of an exciting new chapter in H&MV’s professional development journey.
Structured Training Programme Supports Route to Chartership
Being an ICE Approved Employer means that H&MV can deliver the ICE training scheme, a structured training programme designed to support engineers’ career development towards achieving Chartership status at the ICE. The programme provides clear pathways for engineers to work towards EngTech (engineering technician), IEng (incorporated engineer) and CEng (chartered engineer) professional qualifications.
30 Engineers Attend Launch Event at Historic ICE Building
The H&MV event brought together 30 engineers from across the business, including apprentices, graduates, senior managers and directors. The day commenced with a fascinating historical tour of the ICE building.
Kate Harrison, London membership development officer for the ICE, delivered a comprehensive presentation about the Institution and its various membership routes to achieving EngTech, IEng and CEng grades. This was followed by presentations from H&MV leadership, where Anton Bolton, UK CSA Director, expressed his support for the scheme and Gordon Melia, UK Engineering Manager and mentor, provided updates on the Graduate training programme.
“We Want to Empower Our Engineers”
Las Pathirage, who initiated the ICE training scheme at H&MV, commented:
“I am genuinely passionate about developing our people and giving them every opportunity to achieve professional recognition through ICE. Becoming an approved ICE employer is far more than a badge for H&MV – it reflects our long-term commitment to investing in our engineers, supporting them through structured training, strong mentoring, and a culture that truly cares about their growth.
“Whether our engineers are working towards EngTech, IEng or Chartered status, we want to empower them with the skills, confidence and professional standing to build successful, fulfilling careers. Seeing our graduates and apprentices so engaged and excited about their future is exactly why we introduced this scheme.”
Engineers to Achieve Professional Qualifications Through Structured Development
With the ICE training scheme now launched at H&MV, engineers will work towards achieving professional membership qualifications by recording their skills, knowledge and experience as outlined in the ‘H&MV Engineering Professional Development Scheme for Civil, Structural and Architectural Engineers (CSA)’ manual. In parallel, electrical engineers will now be able to progress through the newly created ICE Infrastructure Engineer route, offering a structured pathway aligned to industry expectations and national standards.
The programme represents a significant investment in H&MV’s engineering talent and reinforces the company’s position as an employer of choice for ambitious engineers seeking to develop their professional credentials and build successful careers in the infrastructure sector.
